History Of Bedok North Symphonic Band

The Bedok North Secondary School Band first started out as a brass band in 1982. By 1985,they were converted into a military band. In 1986 and 1988, the Band participated in the 'SYF Indoor Band Competition for secondary schools'. In 1992, the Band combined effort with Whampoa Secondary School to take part in the SYF Parade of Bands.

In 2002, the Band evolved into the present symphonic band. In that same year, the Band took part in the Chingay Parade. In December, a leadership camp was heldf to groom the next generation of section leaders and band majors. In 2003, the Band participated in a joint concert performance at Nanyang Polytechnic Auditorium. In June 2004, the Band performed at the opening ceremony of "The Lions",a charitable organization. It was helf in Suntec City , Fountain of Wealth. In the same month, the Band went for an exchange program in Kuala Lumpur. The Band also staged its first "Viva La Mysica" in December at the Victoria Concert Hall. In 2005, the Band clinched a Gold award at the SYF Central Judging. Then in August , they entertained an audience of about 2000 at Sentosa's Musical Fountain of Youth and in December, members had an enriching and enjoyable band exchange in Hong Kong.

Riding on the momentum, in March 2006, the Band presented "Viva La Musica II" at the Singapore Conference Hall and in December, the Band clinched a Gold award at the "Festival of Winds" in Kuala Lumpur. As a testimony of the hard work put i by the Band, they were again awarded a Gold award at the SYF Central Judging in 2007.

Past band instructors included Mr.Lee Kwok Hin, Mr.Goh Ah Huat,the late but inspiring

Mr. Hashim and Mr Lim Yean Hwee . The Band is now under the baton of Mr David Wong, who took us over in 2008 as the band instructor.

After the Band go through many changes, Bedok North Symphonic Band stills manage to clinched a Silver award in SYF Central Judging 2009.
